India’s teacher died yesterday. Just the way he wanted to: “One is blessed if one can die working, standing tall without any long drawn ailing. Goodbyes should be short, really short”.
I read the many tributes to the simple man who worshipped work and encouraged dreams.
Then I stumbled upon a video about a boy who has no option but to live a “long-drawn ailing” life, in a manner of speaking.
What Matt accomplished and what his friends did for him made me understand why Dr Abdul Kalam trusted children to secure the future of our nation, our world.
If you, like Matt’s coach, end up wiping a tear, be happy. That bodes well for the future.
Live dreaming. Die working.
You cannot pay a more sincere tribute to the rare Matts. And to the rarest teachers.
